About

The Akhungu are a little known race hailing from the Shakan underbelly. Those who are aware of them have always been left fascinated by their unique adaptability and remarkable physiology. The Akhungu evolved in an environment characterized by vast oceans and scattered islands, leading to their exceptional ability to thrive in both aquatic and terrestrial habitats.

The Akhungu possess a sleek and streamlined physique ideally suited for fluid movement underwater, with elongated limbs and webbed digits facilitating swift propulsion through the water. Their skin, composed of a durable yet flexible membrane, is capable of regulating moisture levels, allowing them to seamlessly transition between aquatic and terrestrial environments without experiencing dehydration or desiccation.

One of the most striking features of the Akhungu is their respiratory system, which enables them to respire efficiently in both water and air. They possess a dual set of gills located behind their ears for underwater respiration, supplemented by a pair of specialized lungs adapted for breathing on land. This unique adaptation grants them the ability to traverse the depths of the ocean depths or roam the surface of Anarkand with ease.

Their societal structure is organized around communal cooperation. They are constantly observing the world around them, gleaning information and understanding. Sightings of Akhungu are very rare as they prefer to lurk in the deep waters of Anarkand and stay well clear of surface dwellers unless absolutely necessary. They are non-confrontational and have a peaceful disposition, however they are not to be underestimated in matters of defence.
