Denbo are one of the more ancient beings on Anarkand with many believing they were around before the 1st era. Evidence suggests they have been around a lot longer than their discovery in the 6th era.



Denbo is a soft-bodied, twelve-limbed octopus-like creature that lives deep in the South Turrican Ocean. Like other sea animals in the region, Denbo is bilaterally symmetric with four eyes and a beaked mouth at the center point of the twelve limbs. The soft body can radically alter its shape, enabling them to squeeze through small gaps. The slippery nature of this beast allows it to escape certain situations. An example of which being that they are clumsy thieves and often get caught stealing from others.



They trail their twelve appendages behind them as they swim. The siphon is used both for respiration and for locomotion, by expelling a jet of water. Denbo have a complex nervous system and poor sight in lighter areas of the ocean. They are among the least intelligent of all the sea creatures of Anarkand, rivalled only in poor intelligence by the Serena, which just so happens to be the greatest enemy of the Denbo, although it doesn't know it.



Male Denbos are useless sexual partners. They have very little capability in finding partners to breed with and often live lives that contain no mating. This is the main reason for the drastic reduction in population of Denbo. Coupled with the threat of Serena, the Denbo is facing an uncertain future that is not full of fun and games for the species.



Denbo inhabit various regions of the South Turrican Ocean, including coral reefs, pelagic waters, and the seabed; although most live in the abyssal depths. Most Denbo prefer to slink away into the shadows and ignore the rest of the ocean. Most grow quickly, mature early, and are short-lived. They develop from very small 8-inch babies up to around 25 feet long.



Denbo are very anti-social creatures. They have no long-lasting relationships with other members of the species despite many opportunities to forge lasting friendships or courtships. The Denbo are incapable of understanding why their actions lead to fights, disagreements, and hatred between the species. They are known to steal anything and everything they can where possible, often times from right under the nose of other inhabitants.



All Denbo tend to spend their lives alone with no real social circle or interaction with members of their species until the day their essence fades...or they are devoured by the Serena. Denbo can be found in the deepest reaches of the South Turrican Ocean.
