These pesky beetles, growing up to a foot long, are found all over Anarkand, although they are found in greater numbers in Burana-Kai where they were originally categorised and discovered by Maran biologists. Kai beetles are just that, beetles, however they do feature a secondary creature that grows outwardly from its upper thorax, one that closely resembles the praying mantis of Earth.



Early Draconis explorers determined through their research studies and concluded analysis, that the mantis aspect of the Kai Beetle was the controller of the body and mind, and that the secondary head, the one below the mantis, is the vehicle for attacking, eating, and poisoning potential enemies and food sources.



A scientific journal that was found to be dated around the 3rd era concludes that the beetle has all the hallmarks of fabled Koballahn experiments, however the authenticity of the journal has never been verified, and the information contained within hasn't stood up to equal verification or validation either.
