SHAKARA Series One

Story and Background

A n a r k a n d :  S h a k a r a

Anarkand approaches the Earth...but something is wrong...The two worlds collide creating rifts that allowed beings from both worlds to traverse into each other's realms. This sudden merging of worlds caused chaos, as factions clashed in a bid for dominance and survival. The leaders of the factions soon realized that the instability caused by the merging of their worlds posed a greater threat than any of their individual conflicts.

At first the factions fought for their own beliefs; their own cause, but it soon became apparent to some that this was futile. With every battle, death prevailed. There were no winners, only losers, and both world's became strained and weaker as a consequence. Despite this being apparent to those involved in the conflict, the battle raged on. Many more would die as the various factions, blindsided by their need to conquer one and all, forged ahead in conflict.

With the factions occupied with one another, a sinister force emerged from the rifts undetected. A malevolent entity that has just one goal... to consume both worlds...

Update: 30 / 7 / 2023 -

The Anarkand trading card game is now in full development. I want to provide a status update on each of the aspects of where the game is at.

  1. 210 Cards will make up the initial offering for the game. These 210 cards will be the full contents of Series One.

  2. For the first series of cards, I have decided to standardise the deck. By this I mean, any player with a Tritan card ( for example ) will see that the faction, attack, defence, fortification, and counter will always be the same. In addition they will have the same bonus effects.

  3. The direction of attack, defence, fortification, and counter-defence will all be the same too. That way players can become familiar with the cards and their stats and abilities fairly quickly.

  4. This comes from initial playtests, it seems to be a better solution to the initial approach which featured non-standardised cards. I ran into two problems with this. Approach play changed when faced with an attacking, defensive, or counter-attacking playstyle. Secondly, the costs involved in such a card set would reach extreme levels of financing, and I am in no position to support this, hence the standardisation and the kickstarter launch.

  5. In addition to the 210 cards of Series One, I will also be pushing a few additional cards that will be extremely limited edition. I will also be unveiling unique one of a kind cards, details on how these are obtained will be revealed sometime in the future. I expect to release uniques and / or limited edition cards as rewards for supporters of the proposed kickstarter and other supporter methods such as Anarkand Prime.

  6. A long-term project for the Anarkand trading card game, is to convert it from the physical, into a digital version. This is some time away as I need to raise the funds to make this possible.
